Now that I have a FIRS script, how do I run
it ?
Once you have a FIRS script, make
sure you are in the directory where the script is loaded and type, "xtest name_of_script".
Whenever I try to run my script, I get a
TCLLIBPATH error.
Try typing "source /etc/profile" and
re-run your script. If this fixes the problem, your shell is not reading in the initialization
parameters properly.
Whenever I try to run my script, I get the
following message : "application-specific initialization failed: no display name and no $DISPLAY
environment variable error."
First verify that X-windows is running.
If you're looking at a completely black screen with white text, type "startx". If you're
telneted into a remote machine, be sure to set your DISPLAY environment variable (i.e.
export DISPLAY=localmachine:0.0).
I'm not seeing any targets on my system.
Is the FIRS sending radar ?
First find the RadarSim window(s) you're
using to generate the radar data. Verify that the target counts are constantly incrementing.
If they're not, you need to check the surveillance file for start time and target existence.
If they are incrementing, check your cabling. This is the most common problem. An oscilloscope
can be very valuable.
How much disk space do I need to make radar
recordings ?
Disk space required for recording files
is dependent on the number and bit rate of radar channels, the duration of the recording,
and the actual air traffic load. However, we've found that 4 channel 9600 bps ASR9 recordings
typically generate .srv files of 5-10 Megabytes per hour and weather files of 2.5 Megabytes
per hour. Three channel 2400 bps ARSR radars typically generate files of 4 Megabytes per hour.
